EE 5327 - VLSI Design
Lab
- Spring Semester
2008
Format for First Written Report
Due: Tuesday, March 25
Each design team will write one report. Use
double-spaced pages with 12 point type
and organize your report exactly as follows:
- Title Page (1 page)
Project title, design team members, brief abstract of your report.
- Introduction (2 pages)
Overview of your project, including a discussion of the application
it addresses and previous work that has been done in this area.
Include
references to previous designs.
- Proposed Architecture (10 to 20 pages)
Describe your design in as much detail as possible. Start with a
system
block diagram and discuss the function of each of the major
blocks.
Include the Verilog code, synthesis reports and/or
simulation results that you have obtained so far.
(Note: Your code must be thoroughly explained, using separate
descriptive paragraphs and with
comments inserted into the code itself.)
Finally, describe the interface between your chip and the external system.
Include a table giving the name of each I/O pin and its function.
- Conclusions (2 pages)
Summarize your report. Indicate the next design steps that will be
taken and comment on any problems or design issues that you think will be
critical for the successful completion of your project.
NOTE: The
quality of your writing (i.e., spelling,
grammar, organization,
clarity, neatness, etc.) is important and it will be a
significant factor in the
assignment of points. Therefore, please take time to proof-read your report
carefully!
